Offered is a gilt and enamel National Reserve badge ‘London’. Manufactured by J.R.Gaunt of London. Excellent enamel & gilt finish, numbered 17135 to reverse hook. Measures 34mm x 32mm. The National Reserve was created in 1910 as a means of retaining the option to call on the services of ex-military personnel to augment the regular and auxiliary military forces of the United Kingdom in the event of a major war. The badge was worn on the lapel to show that the wearer was registered and awaiting call up.
