Offered is a 1914-15 Star, impressed named 16881 PTE W.CHILVER. ESSEX.R.

Comes with copies medal index card, medal roll, London Gazette, 2nd Bn War Diary 29/11/1918 & 22/1/1919.

William Chilver’s was commissioned from the ranks and his records have not been digitised yet. What is know is that he landed in France 25/5/1915 and was posted to the 2nd Battalion Essex Regiment. He was commissioned to the 3rd Battalion Essex Regiment on the 29/5/1918. The 3rd Battalion was a depot reserve battalion in England. He marched into the 2nd Battalion Essex Regiment on the 19/11/1919. Demobilised 22/1/1919. 28/1/1921 resigned his commission. Special Reserve Officers 3rd Battalion Essex Regiment.

This came in to us via his grandson, without any trace of the BWM or Victory medals.
