Original 1889 Pattern sword, as worn by a German Infantry officer during the period 1889 to 1918.

The sword features the classic wire wrapped black ‘curved’ fish skin grip with full wire wrap, retaining the Royal Monogram badge for Kaiser Wilhelm II. The grip is mounted onto twin branched shaped guard, with capped brass pommel and folding Prussian eagle langet. The reverse flat guard shows the engraved initials F.H. and remains of leather finger leather loop.

The straight nickel blade is 79 cm long and is maker marked to Moher & Speyer of Cologne (marked to spine – rare maker). The blade is in near mint condition, being bright and clean overall, with a rounded safety end tip.

The black enamel scabbard retains the twin suspension rings for hanging and medium style drag. The scabbard shows enamel loss overall, retaining 60% of it’s original black finish.

This is the classic Infantry Officer’s sword, won by German officer’s up to and including the First World War.
