Maker stamped ‘W’ to base centre cross arm, on small length of original ribbon. The Golden Military Merit Cross came to also be known as the “Pour le Mérite for non-commissioned officers and enlisted men” and was the highest award for bravery to enlisted and NCO’s of the German Army pre 1918.
