Offered is a rare 1889 pattern German Cavalry Officer’s sword, relating to service with the 6th (2nd Silesian) Jaeger Battalion. The sword features a pierced, nickel guard bowl, with central Prussian eagle, on folding guard, the underside of which is stamped ’43’ and retains the brown leather blade spacer. Black composite pistol grip, with tied black and white bullion knot, with screw top pommel. 83cm long, straigt, unsharpened and unmarked nickle plated blade in good condition, with half blade length etched to both sides, including blued panels of trotting cavalry horse with riders and unit details Jaeger= Regt. Offered is a rare 1889 pattern German Cavalry Officer's sword, relating to service with the 6th (2nd Silesian) Jaeger Battalion.
The sword features a pierced, nickel guard bowl, with central Prussian eagle, on folding guard, the underside of which is stamped '43' and retains the brown leather blade spacer. Black composite pistol grip, with tied black and white bullion knot, with screw top pommel.
83cm long, straigt, unsharpened and unmarked nickle plated blade in good condition, with half blade length etched to both sides, including blued panels of trotting cavalry horse with riders and unit details Jaeger= Regt. Zu Pferde No. 6, both panels surrounded by etched trophies of arms, horse profiles, roses and foliage etc. The blade fits nicely into the original black enamelled scabbard, retaining the fixed suspension ring. Overall length 98cm.
Overall, this is a very good parade sword to an not often seen Imperial German cavalry unit.
