WW1 GERMANY CAVALRY OFFICER SWORD ETCHED 6TH JAEGER HORSE REGIMENT ARMY

Description

Offered is a rare 1889 pattern German Cavalry Officer’s sword, relating to service with the 6th (2nd Silesian) Jaeger Battalion.

The sword features a pierced, nickel guard bowl, with a central Prussian eagle, on the folding guard, the underside of which is stamped ’43’ and retains the brown leather blade spacer. Black composite pistol grip, with tied black and white bullion knot, with screw top pommel.

83cm long, straight, unsharpened and unmarked nickel-plated blade in good condition, with half blade length etched to both sides, including blued panels of trotting cavalry horse with riders and unit details Jaeger Regt. Zu Pferde No. 6, both panels surrounded by etched trophies of arms, horse profiles, roses and foliage etc. The blade fits nicely into the original black enameled scabbard, retaining the fixed suspension ring. Overall length 98cm.

Overall, this is a very good parade sword and not often seen Imperial German cavalry unit.
