Offered is a rare 1889 pattern German Cavalry Officer’s sword, relating to service with the 6th (2nd Silesian) Jaeger Battalion. The sword features a pierced, nickel guard bowl, with a central Prussian eagle, on the folding guard, the underside of which is stamped ’43’ and retains the brown leather blade spacer. Black composite pistol grip, with tied black and white bullion knot, with screw top pommel. 83cm long, straight, unsharpened and unmarked nickel-plated blade in good condition, with half blade length etched to both sides, including blued panels of trotting cavalry horse with riders and unit details Jaeger Regt.
