WW1 GERMANY PRUSSIAN GARDE SPIKED HELMET PICKELHAUBE ELITE REGIMENT

Offered is a very good condition WW1 enlisted Garde Pickelhaube. This lovely piece retains the 1 piece field grey painted metal Garde helmet plate, with early war detailed features. Affixed to this is the Garde star, showing the remains of the original gilt wash. The lacquered leather shell is in exceptionally good condition, showing only light wear and loss of plating. The original cockades are present, as is the original chinstrap with twin buckles firmly attached. The circular spike base retains the removeable ventilated spike and bayonet striker top, as well as remains of the applied field grey paint. The domed rivets are all present and hold all the metal features firmly in place. The rear spin ans ventilator are present. The original black leather liner is present with all fingers showing wear and dryness. The front and rear skirt are firmly attached, showing the original heavy stitching. No size or unit designations as this is most definately a period refurbished helmet from the previous model, which was commonly seen with pieces manuafctured in late 1915 to 1916, however this is a large size, most likely size 57/58. This elite Guards spiked helmet is in very good condition, with all the original parts, which is generally not the case with these 100 year old pieces.
