For sale is a set of WW1 medals being the British War and Victory Medals named 2 LIEUT W.S. LAYCOCK. Court mounted for display they come with copies of MIC, medal roll and picture. 2nd lieutenant William Shepherd Laycock was born in Keighley in Yorkshire in January1879. By 1901he was working as a teacher and living in Skipton. The 1911 census records him working as the head teacher in Urchfont. For sale is a set of WW1 medals being the British War and Victory Medals named 2 LIEUT W.S. LAYCOCK. Court mounted for display they come with copies of MIC, medal roll and picture.

2nd lieutenant William Shepherd Laycock was born in Keighley in Yorkshire in January1879.

By 1901he was working as a teacher and living in Skipton. The 1911 census records him working as the head teacher in Urchfont.

During WW1 he enlisted into the Royal Artillerty as a Bombardier (service #95920) and served in France with the 266th Siege Battery from 17/2/1917.

He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on 3/2/1918 and survived the war, however he died on 31/12/1927 and his early death may have been a result of his war service.

His records are held at the N/A Kew. Wo 374/41203.
