For sale is a set of medals comprising 1914 – 15 Star impressed named 11763 C.S. MJR R. STOOT. R.E.; British War and Victory Medals (1914 – 180 impressed named 11763 T.W.O. CL. 2. R. STOOT. R.E.; Meritorious Service Medal (G.V.R.) impressed named 11763 SJT- T.C.S.MJR. R. STOOT. R.E.; Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (G.V.R.) impressed named 851488 T. W.O. CL. II. R. STOOT. R.E. Swing mounted. They come with copies of MIC, medal rolls, 1911 census and London Gazette extracts.

‘In recognition of valuable services rendered with the Armies in France and Flanders.’

Warrant Officer Robert Stoot was born in 1884/5 in Woolwich, Kent. The 1911 census records him in the Mount Wise Barracks, Devonport, with the rank of 2nd Corporal serving with the 20th Company R.E. His trade being plumber.

During the Great war he landed in France on 3/3/1915 with the rank of Company Sergeant Major. By the wars end he was serving with the 24th (base park) Coy that came from the 24th Fortress Company that was based in Malta when he was awarded his M.S.M.

He was still serving post war when the Army issued new service numbers, hence the different number on his long service medal.
