Oliver Edward Green's records did not survive the WW2 ‘Blitz’, however what is known is that his entire service was with the 2/4th Battalion Oxfordshire & Berwickshire (Oxs & Bucks) Light infantry. His home city being Coventry.

It is believed that he would have been one of the original members when the battalion was raised due to his regimental number of 1413 and he was a Sergeant when he landed in France post 1/1/1916. When the Army re numbered in 1917 he was allocated the new number of 200062.

This is a rather low number as the block  200001- 240000 was allocated to the 4th Bn Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry.

He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in recognition ‘of valuable service rendered with the Armies in France & Flanders’. He survived the war. The 1939 census records shows him as living in Coventry with his occupation as ‘Building foreman’. A newspaper article 11/2/1941 titles ‘Expensive Forgetfulness’ was fined $11 for an un insured car. His explanation 'Busy clearing away debris since the big raid’. His address was Middleborough Rd Coventry & he died 1964 in Coventry.
