Offered is a British War and Victory Medals (1914 – 18), impressed named S4-157495 SJT. D. GIBB. A.S.C.; Meritorious Service Medal (G.V.), impressed named S4-157495. SJT. D. GIBB. R.A.S.C. Court mounted for display comes with copies of M.I.C., medal roll and London Gazette extract 1919.

Sergeant Daniel Gibb was from Greenock, Renfrewshire. In relation to his service No S4-157495, the S4 series were issued to Army Service Corps men who enlisted into Kitchener’s Fourth New Army (K4), which was formed from November 1914. As he is only entitled to the pair, he did not enter a war zone until post 1/1/1916. His M.S.M. was granted for service in Mesopotamia, either late or post war as it was Gazetted 19/9/1919.

Only 938 M.S.M were awarded for Mesopotamia.
