London Gazette 7/10/1918. Acting Sergeant Walter Gage from Cwmcarn Wales was a prewar regular who landed in France on 9/8/1914 as a Gunner with the 3rd Division Ammunition Column, Royal Field Artillery. He was awarded his Military Medal whilst serving as an acting Corporal with 108th Battery. The 108th battery were part of the 23rd Brigade RFA, 3rd Division. The London Gazette 4/10/1918, covers awards from April/May and the 1st week of June 1918. It was during this time that the 3rd Division was fighting to stop the Germans during the Battles of the Lys (German Operation “Klein-Georg” or “Georgette”).
