Description
Description
Offered is an original 1916 dated, WW2 reissued Sanderson First World War 1907 pattern bayonet with scabbard & frog.
Bayonet & scabbard features steel fittings, steel pommel & working release button, very good wooden grips, being stamped AUSTRALIA and metal guard. The 43 cm long steel blade shows the ‘blood groove’ to the centre of each side of the blade and faint Kings Crown stamped for Sanderson (Sanderson Brother, Neubold)
, being lightly dated ’16 (1916), with reissue date of 1932 & 1936. The blades factory sharpened with a good bright finish to surface. Standard leather WW2 scabbard, with correct metal mounts, showing good honest use to the leather body, being stamped MANGRIOVITE 43 & fitted with the WW2 Australian khaki belt frog. Overall length: 58cm long. A good used example of a WW1 bayonet, which was reissued for use during WW2, most likely to members of the Australian Volunteer Defence Corps (aussie Dad’s Army).
