Petty Officer George Norman Hatch,?was born on the 6/8/1896 in Hawkhurst, Kent. He joined the Royal Navy as a Boy II Class on the 5/9/1912, his occupation being recorded as ?Training Ship Arethusa?.

He served on the following H.M. ship and shore establishments: Ganges, Crescent, Victory (accounts base).

WW1: H.M.S. Monarch (Orion-class dreadnought) 11/9/1913 ? 25/6/1915. Excellent (shore gunnery school) 26/6/15 ? 17/4/1916. H.M.S. Royal Sovereign (Revenge-class battleship) 18/4/16 ? 30/9/1917, Victory 1 (shore holding barracks), Excellent, H.M.S. Rattlesnake (destroyer) 18/2/1918 ? 6/8/1918, H.M.S Egmont (fort in Malta) 7/8/18 ? 7/10/18.

Post war he served on the following: Blake, Greenwich, Hermione, Wolsey, Wernon, Tiger, Excellent, Effingham, Hood, Dolphin, Cornwall and was discharged to shore pension 1/9/1936 as a P.O, and obtained work as a postman.

WW2: Recalled to H.M.S Excellent 11/9/1939. March 1940 H.M.S. Europa (Auxiliary Patrol Service Training School at Lowestoft)

The RNPS was a navy within a navy. Mainly minesweeping, anti-submarine patrol ships. Boom defence and dog?s bodies working on converted fishing trawlers ? coal burners.

H.M.S Collingwood (shore training base) 26/5/1943 ? 12/9/45 and demobilised.

He died 18/9/1968 at Maidstone, Kent.
