WW2 3rd Reich pattern lion head sword, as worn by a German Army officer during the period 1938-1945. The sword features the classic lion’s head pommel, featuring twin ruby set eyes and a triple wire wrapped black grip, mounted onto a stylised and decorative gilded brass back strap and ‘p’ shaped guard. The langet shows Nazi eagle and swastika. The slightly curved nickel blade is 84 cm long and is maker marked to WKC of Solingen with KNIGHTS HEAD trademark. The sword features the classic lion's head pommel, featuring twin ruby set eyes and a triple wire wrapped black grip, mounted onto a stylised and decorative gilded brass back strap and 'p' shaped guard. The langet shows Nazi eagle and swastika.
The slightly curved nickel blade is 84 cm long and is maker marked to WKC of Solingen with KNIGHTS HEAD trademark. The blade is in near mint condition, being bright and clean overall with normal withdrawal marks.
The black enamel scabbard retains the suspension ring and small horse style drag. The scabbard is in fair condition, with noticeable enamel loss toward drag and forward edge ding showing signs of fencing practice.
