Very good condition early war produced 2nd pattern Luftwaffe Pilot’s badge, by C.E. Junker of Berlin. Solid and well detailed Tombak central flying eagle and swastika, with clear lines and hand finished details. Dulled silver tombak wreath, being slightly vaulted, showing correct twin domes rivets and barrel hinged pin assembly. Maker stamped to centre of reverse of eagle CE JUNKER BERLIN SW. Good patination forming over the entire badge. The combined pilot’s qualification badge was originally introduced by Hermann Göring on January 19th 1935, and featured a horizontally oval wreath encompassing a stylized national eagle in flight. The combined pilot’s qualification badge was originally introduced by Hermann Göring on January 19th 1935, and featured a horizontally oval wreath encompassing a stylized national eagle in flight. The badge was intended for award to personnel who had qualified for the military pilot badge, thus passing the rigorous pilot training school.
