WW2 ITALIAN CAMPAIGN ROYAL ELECTRICAL & ENGINEERS MEDAL GROUP TO E W GAMBLE REME

Description

1939 Star, Italy Star, Defence and British War Medal 1939-45. All un named as issued. Period swing group, mounted for wear. Comes with Regular Army certificate of service book & 1939 Census.

Ernest Walter Gamble was born on the 13/1/1917. The 1939 Census records him as living in Derby with his occupation ‘General Printers labourer’.

He enlisted into the Royal Engineers on the 5/3/1940 and served with them until 8/3/1949 as a workshop Corporal. His army service books records his entitlements to the Italy Star etc.

He re-enlisted at Exter on the 9/3/1949 and served with R.E.M.E. after signing on for 5 years. He was discharged as services no longer required.

He died in 1990 at Derby.
