WW2 ITALIAN OFFICERS SWORD & SCABBARD BATTLE SOUVENIR BARI ITALY 1943 ANZAC
Offered is a WW2 Pattern Italian Officer’s sword with scabbard souvenired 1943. Features a steel hilt bowl guard, hatched grip back-strap and flat nut pommel. Handle is of wood with capture details “ITALY Bari Angelo-1943” carved into the surface. The 84.7cm single fullered blade shows the House of Savoy Royal Coat of Arms etchings to both facings surrounded by beautifully executed but worn foliage designs, surface shows signs of age darkening and polish wear. The metal scabbard is solid with signs of age wear and loss to the nickle plate, double lose ring hangers present and horseshoe drag shows signs of age pitting, blade slides in nicely. Overall length 102.5cm. This came in from the relatives of the Australian soldier who souveniered this, though no specific soldier details were provided, it was well known in the family etc. WW2 sword with a great Italian campaign connection that would display well.
