British General Service Medal (1918) George VI (2nd type 1949–1952) with clasp MALAYA; 1939 Star; Burma Star; British War Medal 1939-45; India Service Medal. All medals are un named as issued except the GSM which is impressed named 21135270 RFN GAINE. GURUNG 6 GR. Swing mounted for wear.

On Indian independence the 6th Gurkhas were one of the regiments that were transferred to the British Army, and the regiment was reduced to two battalions. In 1959, the regiment was renamed as the 6th Queen Elizabeth's Own Gurkha Rifles in honour of Elizabeth II.

As with other Gurkha regiments, the 6th Gurkhas primarily saw service in the Far East until the British withdrawal from East of Suez. Both battalions participated in the Malayan Emergency.
