Nazi Germany 2nd pattern Luftwaffe Dagger, with an orange celluloid grip with wire wrapping and aluminium swastika/oakleaf decorated pommel show good patina and no damage, apart from 3 age fleck lines to top of grip. Aluminium cross guard in good condition with slightly worn long silver bullion portepee knot. 26cm long blade, which is in exceptionally fine condition, showing maker mark to ricasso for P.D. L Solingen & Trademark knights’ helmet, with a small wear/rust point just above the TM. High-quality, plated, double-etched blade showing faint runner marks with a few small specks of wear, but no nicks to cutting...

Nazi Germany 2nd pattern Luftwaffe Dagger, with an orange celluloid grip with wire wrapping and aluminium swastika/oakleaf decorated pommel show good patina and no damage, apart from 3 age fleck lines to top of grip. Aluminium cross guard in good condition with slightly worn long silver bullion portepee knot. 26cm long blade, which is in exceptionally fine condition, showing maker mark to ricasso for P.D. L Solingen & Trademark knights’ helmet, with a small wear/rust point just above the TM. High-quality, plated, double-etched blade showing faint runner marks with a few small specks of wear, but no nicks to cutting edges. Etched panels of Luftwaffe eagle, filigree & floral ornamentation retain 99% of the light grey background frosting and blade is complete, minus the leather blade buffer pad. The scabbard is dent free, with great patina and both suspension loops present. The deluxe Luftwaffe hangers are in very good condition, with black velvet backing & grey toned buckles & DRGM marked buckle. Overall a very good conditioned piece, dating most likely from the 1941/1942 period.

The presentation daggers were used as unofficial awards bestowed upon individuals for heroic deeds, bestowal of high official awards & pre war exemplary long service to officer’s serving during the Third Reich. Many of the Luftwaffe presentation daggers were given to pilot’s who received their ace status or multiple acts of bravery and are rarely seen for sale.
