Offered is an original Australian Army wool uniform service jacket, as worn by WX129 Lieutenant Edward Thomas Green, 2/8th Field Regiment, who was an escaper from Crete and subsequently Mentioned in Dispatches as a result. Olive coloured wool jacket, showing only minor spots of mothing to a couple of areas, but very presentable overall, with oxidized brass buttons, rising sun collar badges, AU titles and officers pips to both shoulder boards, waist belt etc. Retains the small unit patches and sleeve service chevrons. Edward Green was born in 1914 an early enlistee in 1939 gaining the regimental number WX129. He served in the Middle East, including Greece and managed to escape from Crete, bagging an M.I.D. for his service (February to July 1941) as a gunner with the 2/8th Field Regiment. He was commissioned 5/9/1943 and went onto serve with the 2nd 16th Battalion in Borneo, having completed 2398 days of service (788 days overseas) by the end of the war. Further served Western Command until relinquishing his commission 1/8/1946.
